NHC stand-out Carroll defeats Col. City

HUNTERTOWN — Car-roll, which lost narrowly to Homestead recently in the Northeast Hoosier Conference meet, defeated both Columbia City’s boys and girls swim teams Tuesday night.

The Eagle boys lost 182-111 and the girls were defeated 196-89.
The Chargers won every event but three, the boys 50 and 100-yard freestyle and the girls 50 free.

Cole Smith, who won the conference meet in the 50-yard free, won by two seconds over his closest opponent. Smith also took the 100 free by over a second.

Libby Bower was the sole girl to win an event in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.4 and finished second in the 100-yard butterfly.

John Davis placed second and Audrey Gruettert finished third in the diving competition.

The girls 200-yard medley relay placed second and the boys came in third.

Jena Bosselman finished second in the 200-yard individual medley and placed third in the 100 breaststroke.

Tucker Daniel came in second in the 500 free and third in the 200. Devin Moore came in third in the 100-yard backstroke.

The Eagles are back in action tonight at conference foe DeKalb.
