Norma Mauzy, 77

Norma L. Mauzy, 77, formerly of Lake Township, Allen County, died Saturday evening, March 19, 2011 at Covington Manor where she had been a resident since October 2009.
She was born May 9, 1933 in Kosciusko County, a daughter of Lennel R. and Hazel (Hunter) Weimer. Her formative years were spent in Noble County. She graduated from North Webster High School.
On April 5, 1952 she was united in marriage to Leonard E. Mauzy. They made their home in Kosciusko County until December 1958 when they moved to Lake Township, Allen County.
She was employed at Har-mar Seed Company, secretary for Kosciusko County Superintendant for five years and retired in 1996 from Northwest Allen County School System with 22 years of service at Arcola School with the Chapter 1 program as a reading assistant.
Her memberships included Lake Chapel United Methodist Church and its ladies group, United Methodist Women of Lake Chapel.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Leonard; two sons, Duke (Nancy) Mauzy and Daniel Mauzy, both of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Mauzy; a sister, Ruby Weimer; and three brothers, Duane “Pat” Weimer, John Weimer and Arnold Weimer.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Lake Chapel United Methodist Church.
