Norman Franklin, 73

COLUMBIA CITY — Norman L. Franklin Sr., 73, of Columbia City, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011 at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born March 25, 1938 in Miamisburg, Ohio, a son of Henry and Loraine (Middleton) Franklin.
His formative years were spent in Middletown, Ohio, where he graduated from high school.
He received his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he retired from ITT Aerospace in 1994 with 34 years of service.
Surviving relatives include four children, Dina Franklin of Las Vegas Nev., Norman Franklin Jr. of Columbia City, Angie Smith of Indianapolis and Zachariah Franklin of Germany; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy York.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation after 2 p.m. Saturday.
