NUMBERS SPUR COUNTY RELAY CLOSER TO GOAL: Walk-a-thon current total at $23K

June 2, 2014

In less than two weeks walkers will take to the track at Indian Springs Middle School in a fight against cancer.

The annual Relay for Life 24-hour walk-a-thon will take place Saturday, June 7 at 8 a.m. and continue until Sunday at 8 a.m.

This year’s theme is “Scare Away Cancer,” and promotes a Halloween-inspired event.

Currently, the event has raised more than 66 percent of its financial goal of $35,000. Twenty-one teams and 114 participants are signed up for the walk, but committee leaders said it is not too late to get involved.

“Teams of relayers can still sign up and participate in the event,” said Co-Chair Tammy Gross. “Individuals are welcome too. There is a chance to register the day of the event as well.”
