Wednesday morning - The National Weather Service downgraded Whitley County's condition from a Blizzard warning to a Winter Weather advisory as of 4:45 a.m. Overnight Fort Wayne reported areas received six or more inches of snow and blowing causing drifts of three feet or more. Sleet and freezing rain was also reported.
The forecast posted by the NWS this morning follows:
Today: Snow likely, possibly mixed with freezing drizzle, becoming all snow after 9 a.m. Areas of blowing snow. Cloudy and cold, with a high near 20. North wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to between 15 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Tonight: Areas of blowing snow and a chance of snow showers before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6. West wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Thursday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 13. West wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -3. Wind chill values as low as -15. Southwest wind around 10 mph.
Besides all county schools and government offices, other closings for Wednesday include: All county public libraries; Whitley County Council on Aging; Aging and In-Home Services for Northeast Indiana; and The Woodlands Senior Center.
