O TANNENBAUM: The Clugston prepares for annual tree walk
COLUMBIA CITY — A Christmas tree is a traditional item to mark the December holiday. However, trees become more than decoration when they are part of The Clugston’s Annual Walk of Trees. In its fourth year, The Walk of Trees will open for tours Friday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. and will continue Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 8 p.m. through Saturday, Dec. 14. The event is free and allows area businesses and organizations a chance to sponsor and decorate a tree. More than 20 trees are expected to be a part of this year’s walk.“Instead of floral companies and professional decorators coming in to work on trees, this walk features the handiwork of everyday community members,” said Tammy Nickolson, the event’s coordinator. “I think it’s fun for folks to walk through The Clugston lobby and see the creativity of those they know.”The Clugston is a senior-living community located in a historic building in downtown Columbia City. As visitors take in the twinkling lights and holiday cheer, raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 and dropped off at the base of each tree. At the end of the walk, a winning ticket will be drawn and the selected ticket holder is able to take home their selected tree.To read the rest of this story, see the Nov. 15 issue of The Post and Mail.
