COLUMBIA CITY — In Columbia City, a nearby location is being transformed into a drop-off center for Operation Christmas Child — the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind.
Local volunteers will be on hand to receive an expected 2,000 gift-filled shoeboxes, packed by Columbia City residents with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement.
At this local collection site in the Columbia City area, anyone can drop off a gift-filled shoebox to send to a child overseas.
Then, using whatever means necessary — trucks, trains, boats, bikes and even elephants — the shoebox gifts will be delivered to children worldwide. For many children, the shoebox gift will be the first gift they have ever received.
This collection site will be open during Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week, Monday, Nov. 18 through Monday, Nov. 25.
