SOUTH WHITLEY â Power outages have peppered the town of South Whitley in recent weeks.
Two outages back-to-back Sept. 14 and Sept. 15 left many residents without electricity for hours.
At a recent town council meeting, town leaders heard from Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) representatives as to the issues with the townâs power.
âThese outages were not IMPAâs issue, but Duke Energyâs outage,â said Eric Burch, manager of member services for IMPA.
Although the townâs power contract is with IMPA, lines and service poles are shared with other power companies such as Duke Energy.
âWe all operate on a joint transmission system,â said IMPAâs Assistant Vice President Joel Roper. âWe have a good working relationship with Duke and we want to keep it that way.â
Power was out a total of six hours by Roperâs estimation. Grumbling from those residents in attendance at the meeting argued that the outage was longer than six hours.
