Parents count blessings after shooting; Suspect from Warsaw area

January 22, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — While many have watched the news of school shootings in other areas of the country, Purdue University’s incident Tuesday hit home for many Whitley County residents.

Tuesday afternoon, a Purdue student from Warsaw opened fire in a classroom, killing a 21-year-old man.

According to the Purdue Exponent, Cousins seemingly sought out the victim, Andrew Boldt, during a lab in the Electrical Engineering building. After he killed Boldt, police say he left the building, and surrendered outside.

Dozens of Whitley County high school graduates are attending or have attended Purdue, and news of the shootings were frightening for both parents and students.
