PARK: Possession of park property possibly passing

COLUMBIA CITY — When a park at Tri-Lakes had to have its bathroom facilities shutdown due to a contaminated well, Whitley County Commissioners proposed a new owner for the property.

“This is the only park still under the county’s umbrella,” said Commissioner Don Amber at a recent meeting. “I guess I would rather see the township take it over.”

After discussing the possibility of the park becoming the property of Thorncreek Township, its trustee, Gene Heckman, said there was interest from both his township board and the Tri-Lakes Association.
