COLUMBIA CITY — Paul V. Sheets, 74, of Columbia City, died at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at Parkview Oaks where he had been a resident since Aug. 4.
He was born Aug. 6, 1937 in Willet, N.Y., the son of Evan Lowell and Goldie Catherine (Walters) Sheets. As a young boy, his family moved to Larwill.
On May 6, 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged Aug. 8, 1961.
On June 10, 1961, he married Lois A. May. They made their home in Larwill for a short time before moving to Columbia City.
He retired in 2009 from UniRoyal with 31 years of service.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Lois; three children, Michael (Charlene) Sheets of Columbia City, Theresa Tucker of Columbia City and Robert (Theresa) Sheets of Kimmell; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eldon “Bud” Sheets of Tri Lakes, Raymond Sheets of Larwill and Norman Sheets of Warsaw; and three sisters, Mary Corner of Columbia City, Ann Brower of Columbia City and Ilene Alice Stewart of South Whitley.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Sheets; two brothers, Kenneth Sheets and Lawrence “Larry” Sheets; and a sister, Hallie Mae Sheets.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
The burial will be in Eberhard Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the final expense account payable to Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
