Pauline Gottschalk, 83

SOUTH WHITLEY — J. Pauline Gottschalk, 83, died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Renaissance Village where she had been a resident since March of 2009.
She was born March 14, 1928, in Madison County, a daughter of Arte O. and Mabel M. (Cloud) Ice.
Her formative years were spent in Summitville.
She graduated from Summitville High School.
On Oct. 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lester H. Gottschalk.
They made their home on a farm near South Whitley. In 1979, they moved to their home in South Whitley. Mr. Gottschalk died Feb. 17, 1980.
Her employment included Schultz Department Store, Columbia City; Gene’s SuperValu, South Whitley and Stumps Printing for more than nine years, retiring in 2001.
She is survived by three sons, Daniel (Nancy) Gottschalk, Delphi, Ohio, Joseph (Connie) Gottschalk, Columbia City and Gene (Gloria) Gottschalk, South Whitley; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Merle, Marvin and Edward Ice; two sisters, Louis Glass and Ruth Gustin and a granddaughter, Amanda Ford..
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial will be in the South Whitley Cemetery.
The visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
