This is the first time Iâve written about a person Iâve not actually interviewed. Sometimes itâs easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.
Thankfully, I know Richard Zollinger is full of grace and Iâm banking on him extending it to me. Either that or I think Iâm officially off the guest list for the best annual Super Bowl Party in the state of Indiana. I told him, âIâm writing this article with you or without you.â He kept declining an interview, telling me how there are so many more worthy people in Whitley County than he.
Thatâs the one commonality all the people Iâve written about shareâ¦every last one of them is convinced that an article should be written about the other guy but not about them.
But Dear Reader, that quality is precisely what makes folks a candidate for this column. If Iâd actually gotten to interview Dick, I would have asked about his days at the White House. Upon graduation from Purdue University, Dick worked in Washington D.C. and is quite entertaining with his Mr. President stories.
Dear Reader, this incredibly humble, altruistic, generous, helpful dentist is Dr. Richard Zollinger and he is just one ofâ¦the people I know. ( I still wish he would have let me interview him.)
