SOUTH WHITLEY â Phase II of South Whitleyâs wastewater treatment facility renovation continues to forge ahead as Project Manager David Harvey â with Fleis and Vandenbrink â presented the latest bulletin to South Whitley Town Council members Tuesday evening.
Providing a wide-range of municipal services, Fleis and Vandenbrink is the townâs engineering consultant.
With three bids received, Gerig-Ottenweller Construction was awarded the Phase II state-mandated renovation with a bid of $3,087,000 for the main project with an alternate bid of $27,000 for material revisions.
âThere is also a request for pricing on pipe bollards to protect the blowers that are outside of the building,â Harvey said. âThe bollards were not included in the original quote and my concern was somebody running into the blowers. The blowers are elevated two feet off the ground on a concrete pad.â
Harvey said the pipe bollards would be approximately four or five feet and set away from the unit.
âAlso, another bulletin will be prepared shortly to bring one of the chambers of the existing influent chamber to a man hole structure,â Harvey said. âGravel is being filled in the existing chamber right now, along with a drawing made up.â
