PINESTOCK: Music fest to showcase local talent

CHURUBUSCO — Two friends put their heads together to offer a local experience built off of what they both love in life — music.Nate Norris, of Churubusco, and Nicholas Weaver, of Fort Wayne, have attended several music festivals and have a growing appreciation for local talent.“We had seen so many festivals become overrated and saturated with sponsorships,” Weaver said. “We thought it would be good to have a festival that wasn’t about the hype, but about the music. We also wanted a stage to showcase independent talent.”With that sentiment, the pair of friends launched Pinestock Music Festival three years ago.Weaver has a long career in managing bands, and the festival is held on Norris’s land in Churubusco.“We work as a team,” Weaver said. “I take care of the talent and the music, Nate does the rest. We both really enjoy the experience.”The Pinestock Music Festival, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 starting at noon, takes place in the middle of a 20-acre pine tree farm in a small Churubusco.
