COLUMBIA CITY â€” This Saturday, local â€śwell-knownsâ€ť will be standing outside Shoe Show in an effort to help the Salvation Army raise money for a program called â€śMy Sole Purpose.â€ť
This program assists children in need, supplying them with new shoes as the school year begins. It is also a program accepting monetary donations for backpacks.
Pat Mossburg, community ministries specialist, said the goal is to raise $8,500 by July 1.
â€śWe are currently about half way to our school shoe goal,â€ť said Mossburg. â€śWe have far to go, but are extremely grateful at how much has been accomplished.â€ť
A major fundraiser to help meet this goal, called â€śPitch-In For Local Kids,â€ť will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
During this fundraiser, a local â€śwell-knownâ€ť from the community will participate by collecting money every hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside Shoe Show in Columbia City.
The following people who will participate include: 9 to 10 a.m. is Susie Sexton, 10 to 11 a.m. is Tammy Nicholson, 11 a.m. to noon is Gary Parvot, noon to 1 p.m. is Anytime Fitness, 1 to 2 p.m. are the Red Hat Cloggers and 2 to 3 p.m. is John Bellum.
â€śWe ask that you drive by and support the person of your choice, said Mossburg.
