Police get green light to pursue communications upgrade

COLUMBIA CITY – Columbia City’s police department is looking to acquire new handheld radios for its police force and it has been given “the green light” by city council to pursue the $180,000 upgrade.
Police Chief Michael Petersen – who also serves as the chairman of the city’s Radio Committee – inquired at Tuesday night’s session of Columbia City’s City Council if the city had an available funding source so the committee can begin the process of planning, budgeting and acquiring the radios.
