Police nab second suspect in Camden Dr. meth lab discovery

January 24, 2011

COLUMBIA CITY — Police have arrested the man wanted on drug charges that were brought earlier this month as a result of a 911 call for an unresponsive infant.
Travis A. Wonderly, 21, was arrested by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department Saturday and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of chemicals with the intent to manufacture and maintaining a common nuisance.
Wonderly was in Whitley County Circuit Court this morning for an initial hearing and requested a public defender.
Whitley Circuit Court Judge James Heuer assigned Wonderly public defender Brad Baber and set a pre-trial conference for Feb. 28.
Wonderly was arrested as a result of an incident Jan. 3 where police and emergency medical crews were called to the 730 Camden Drive in Columbia City.
The address was the residence of Wonderly and 36-year-old Janel Creech, who is already in custody.
The 911 call was made because Creech’s 5-month-old daughter Taylor was unconscious.
The infant was rushed to Parkview Whitley Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
No charges have been filed in the baby’s death, but as a result of the 911 call, police found evidence of a meth lab.
The residence was condemned by Indiana State Police and the Whitley County Health Department.
The death of Taylor Creech is still under investigation with a decision on whether or not to file charges in her death pending the results of toxicology tests from her autopsy, according to Whitley County Coroner Scott Smith.
In court this morning, Wonderly listed his address as Albion. He has not been able to occupy the Camden Drive residence since the incident, although police were called to the house last week when residents thought they saw Wonderly at the residence.

What were they thinking to

What were they thinking to run a meth lab in the very house where they were raising their child. I know being an addict feels quite desperate but this is too much, they should have considered a drug treatment center before it got to this...

that truly is a tragedy in more ways than one.where is our children's protection when we need it.will this be a wake up call from our legal system,or will they put their head in the sand.
