CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s football team is preparing for its final home game Friday and will face a team on a hot streak.
Unbeaten Churubusco (7-0, 6-0) will welcome the Falcons (6-1, 5-1) for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday.
Fairfield is fresh off of a victory against previously-unbeaten Lakeland. The Falcons lost their second game of the year to Prairie Heights and have been unblemished ever since. In each of its last five wins, Fairfield has scored more than 40 points.
’Busco now remains as the lone unbeaten in the Northeast Corner Conference. The Eagles earned revenge last week, avenging their only 2012 loss by defeating Culver Military Academy at home.
Now, the Eagles will look to keep their 23-game conference winning streak going this week.
While Churubusco has won the last two games between the teams, including a 29-23 win last year, it was Fairfield that handed the Eagles their most recent loss in the NECC.
That game was in 2010. The Falcons beat ’Busco 52-38 that season.
This contest has significant implications for the NECC race. Fairfield, with one loss, still controls its own destiny. A loss by ’Busco would vault the Falcons into a potential tie with the Eagles at the end of the season.
