PREVIEW: Whitko could clinch TRC title

October 10, 2013

SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s football team is the only Three Rivers Conference school with a perfect record in league play.

With two weeks remaining in the season, the Wildcats (5-2, 5-0) have a chance to wrap up a conference championship a whole week early.

Whitko plays Rochester this Friday at home at 7 p.m. The Zebras (5-2, 4-1) suffered their first TRC loss of the year last week against Tippecanoe Valley.

Tippy Valley hosts North Miami. If Whitko and North Miami both win this Friday, the Wildcats will clinch the conference a week early.

However, unbeaten Whitko still controls its own destiny in the race either way, and welcomes a Zebra team it lost to 20-17 a year ago.

The Wildcats’ last win over the Zebras was a 27-24 overtime thriller in 2010, as Whitko was on its way to a TRC championship that season.
