PRIMARY VOTING: Absentee voting scheduled

COLUMBIA CITY — Residents of Whitley County who are registered to vote in their district of residence may begin absentee voting April 9. According to Jessica Hockemeyer of the Whitley County Clerk’s Office, the Election Office is now accepting applications. Ballots will be mailed out beginning on March 23.

Absentee voting will take place at the Whitley County Clerk’s Office in the courthouse at 101 W. Van Buren Street in Columbia City. The clerk’s office is located on the second floor, room 18.

The office will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturdays, April 14, 21, 8 a.m. to noon; Saturdays, April 28 and May 5, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Monday, May 7, 8 a.m. to noon will be the final opportunity for absentee voting.

Voters do not need a reason to absentee vote if doing so in person at the clerk’s office.
