CHURUBUSCO â Itâs all fun and games at Churubusco Elementary School ⊠well on a special night anyway. Recently, parents and second-grade students in Pat Naragonâs class finished a five-week-long Project Based Learning (PBL) activity with fun and games the children created themselves.
âIn Project Based Learning (PBL), students go through an extended process of inquiry in response to a complex question, problem or challenge,â said Naragon.
Through the project, the students encountered several real life experiences. The project itself met many different comprehension standards, which included âcompare and contrast,â âsummarizing,â âfantasy and reality,â âproblem and solutions,â âstory elements,â âcharacter traits,â âgenre studies of fiction,â ânonfictionâ and âhistorical fiction.â
It also covered language standards of friendly letters and response to literature. Twenty-first century skills of collaboration and presentation were also stressed throughout the project. The project itself took approximately five weeks to complete.
