COLUMBIA CITY — After last week’s decision to do away with sledding at DeVol Field, in Columbia City, there has been an outcry from many citizens who oppose the choice.
Thursday night, Columbia City’s Park Board, which made the decision based on liability issues, is holding a public hearing for citizens to voice their opinions.
Columbia City’s Attorney Marcia McNagny, recently warned city officials of the potential liability at the park, especially considering a fence that was recently put up after the construction of a new baseball diamond.
Many argue, though, that the fence has a large gate, which could be opened to allow the age-old tradition of sledding at DeVol Field this winter.
