COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City was on fire from the tip-off in Whitley County’s boys basketball season opener against Whitko Wednesday.

Columbia City took a 21-9 lead in the first quarter, and extended it to a 30-point, 44-14 advantage at the half.

Whitko struggled offensively, as the Eagle defense held the ’Cats to single-digit scoring in every quarter of the game.

Coverstone knocked down two more 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to help Columbia City to its 69-26 win.

The Eagles are back in action at Warsaw and Whitko hosts Leo, both on Saturday night.
