Ray B. Knox, 96, a resident of Fort Wayne and a retired missionary, passed away at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at the Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born Aug. 28, 1915, a son of Ernest and Nellie (Hatmaker) Knox.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
The surviving relatives include his widow, DeVere Knox; two daughters, Louise Linnemeier of rural Fort Wayne and Lucy Wallace of Berryville, Ark.; a sister, Ruth Meade of Three Rivers Mich.; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Emily Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Smith, officiating.
Visitation will be held after noon until the time of the service.
Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
