WHITLEY COUNTY â€” Relay for Life of Whitley County, a 24-hour walk-a-thon to raise funds and awareness for cancer research and patient services, has several fundraising events to support area teams working to generate money for their relay efforts.
All the money raised from fundraisers will go to the Whitley County relay event, slated for June 7 and 8 at Indian Springs Middle School, and will go to support local community members battling cancer.
â€¢Saturday, March 22 - 4 to 7 p.m. â€” A chili supper and silent auction will be sponsored by Wesley Chapel Warriors March 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Church, 13733 Wesley Chapel Road.
The menu will consist of chili, hot dogs, cornbread muffins and desserts. Freewill donations will be accepted to support the Relay for Life team.
â€¢Sunday, March 23 - noon to 3 p.m. â€” A bowl-a-thon will be held Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at Main Bowl, 303 S. Main St. in Columbia City. The cost is $7 for three games. For children ages four and younger, the cost is $4. Shoes are free.
Those wanting to participate should plan to check in between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Bowling will start at noon. Five to six people will be allowed per lane, door prizes will be awarded to bowlers and the event will be held in a smoke-free facility.

â€¢ Monday, March 31 deadline â€” A pie sale will be held as a Relay for Life of Whitley County fundraiser. All orders are due Monday, March 31.
Pie choices include: sugar cream, pecan, peanut butter, German chocolate, pumpkin, pumpkin chess, and coconut sugar cream.
The cost is $5 per pie. All pies are 9 inches. Orders are due by March 31, money is due April 7 and pies must be picked up April 14.

â€¢ Tuesday, March 25 deadline â€” Pet owners can submit their pet as part of a cutest pet contest. Those wanting to participate should pick up an entry form at the Columbia City Walmart.
Completed forms and a photo should be turned into the Walmart Service Desk by March 25.
Shoppers and community members can visit the location to vote April 1 through 29. All proceeds from the voting will benefit Whitley Countyâ€™s Relay for Life and Humane Society.
It is not too late to put together a Relay for Life team. Team captain meetings are held to help leaders stay informed of event details as well as to have support in rallying team members and funds.
