RELAY CORNER: Events to support Whitley County's Relay for Life

WHITLEY COUNTY — Relay for Life of Whitley County, a 24-hour walk-a-thon to raise funds and awareness for cancer research and patient services, has several fundraising events to support area teams working to generate money for their relay efforts.

All the money raised from fundraisers will go to the Whitley County relay event, slated for June 7 and 8 at Indian Springs Middle School, and will go to support local community members battling cancer.

Plant sale
Potted annuals will be on sale for $10. Purchases can be made by contacting Cathy Cronin at 212-0109 or by email at
Pickup for plants will be Saturday, May 10 from 8 to noon at the Whitley County Farmer’s Market at the Courthouse Square.
Any extra plants will be sold at the market.

Fundraiser dinner
Friends and Family, a relay team from Walmart, will hold a fundraiser at Pizza Hut in Columbia City Monday, May 17 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Pizza Hut will donate $1 for each adult buffet sold.

Team meetings
It is not too late to put together a Relay for Life team. Team captain meetings are held to help leaders stay informed of event details as well as to have support in rallying team members and funds.
