The Leatherneck Coffee Club, comprised of U.S. Marine veterans of Whitley County were busy Tuesday packing care packages for local troops serving overseas. The bulk of donations came from the Whitley County Consolidated Schools Central office staff, according to Grant and Linda Loy, organizers. The boxes will be sent to Adam Neireiter, Jeff Daniel and Preston Lewis from Whitley County who are all serving in Afghanistan, as well as others from northeastern Indiana. The addresses were acquired from the Mothers of Marines organization for Northeast Indiana. Each box contains a loaf of bread home-made by the Loys, and many snacks, drinks and even teddy bears. Other boxes are being sent to the Wounded Warrior Barracks in Camp LeJeune, N.C. containing books, etc. for them to use while they recover.
