COLUMBIA CITY â Whitley Countyâs 911 system will be receiving a new call-recording system.
Problems with the current system have led to the switch.
Whitley County Prosecutor Matt Rentschler said recordings that were necessary for certain cases fell through the cracks.
âI have had one or two calls that my office wanted to review, but theyâre (recordings) gone,â said Rentschler.
Scott Jones, Whitley County 911 coordinator, was at Mondayâs meeting of the Whitley County Commissioners.
He was requesting permission to use money from his budget for the new recorder.
The price tag for the new recorder will be $20,799.25 with J&K Communications, and the commissioners unanimously approved a third of that to come from the 911 department.
