Richard D. “Dick” Mitchell, 81, of Warsaw, died at 8:10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 8, 1930, in El Paso, Texas to Oda E. & Zola Iva (Reeg) Mitchell.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran and was married Feb. 14, 1981, in Warsaw to Sue Ann (Donnelly) Ray who survives.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Mitchell of Warsaw; a daughter, Sarah Knisley of Syracuse; a son, Bruce Mitchell of North Webster; a stepdaughter, Alyssa Schmucker of North Webster; a stepson, Jason Ray of Elkhart; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a brother, Erwin “Pete” Mitchell of Columbia City
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Laurel Jean Mitchell, son Richard Dean Mitchell, and a sister, Lois Hammel.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & C.R. 500N., North Webster.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in North Webster with military graveside rites performed by American Legion Post 253.
Memorial bequest may be given to North Webster Fire Department or North Webster EMS, P.O. Box 144, North Webster, IN 46555.
