Richard L. “Jingles” Waikel , 74, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 in Tarpon Springs, Fla. Born in Ft. Wayne, Richard retired as a brick mason after 46 years with Local 4 Indiana and Kentucky. He was an avid fisherman in Columbia City and Tarpon Springs.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Flora Waikel of Columbia City; daughters, Laura (George) Settles of Fort Wayne, Kathy (Bill) Swain of Cape Coral, Fla., Karen Brown and Sandy (Mike) Pulver, both of Columbia City; sister, Carol Bryant of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and special nephews, Steve, Fred and Bob.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers and will be deeply missed.
Service is 2 p.m. Thursday at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior to service. Calling also Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment in Lindenwood Cemetery.
