Riding for Dewey

July 29, 2013

The Cleveland Township Fire Department (CTFD) hosted its 5th Annual Dewey’s Run in honor of the late Duane “Dewey” Loe Saturday.

Loe lost a “long and valiant” fight with stage IV cancer of the tongue and (neck) lymph nodes in December 2011. Diagnosed with cancer in 2009, Loe dedicated more than 20 years of service to the CTFD, which has left a void in the hearts of many.

Loe was only 44 years old at the time of his death and leaves behind his wife, Teresa, and (now) 12 year old son, Colin. “I want to thank everyone for participating in Dewey’s Run,” Teresa said. “I know that Duane was looking down on everyone today with a big smile.”

With approximately 40 motorcycles and 15 jeeps participating in the 80-mile benefit ride, all proceeds from the event will remain in Whitley County for ill and injured firefighters.
