Robert Gordon, 85

LARWILL — Robert Lee “Bob” Gordon, 85, of Larwill, was taken to be with his Lord at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born April 25, 1926 in Whitley County, Indiana a son of Lawrence and Elizabeth (Carter) Gordon. His formative years were spent on a farm in the Collins area. He graduated from Churubusco High School in 1944.
On Dec. 22, 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a medic during World War II. He was honorably discharged Nov. 2, 1945.
Following his retirement from Dana, he drove truck. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.
He was a member of Harvest Community Church in Pierceton, Columbia City Lions Club, Larwill Lions Club and American Legion Post #178 in Garrett.
Surviving relatives include three children, Lauise (Gil) Hoagland of Wichita Kan., Jerry (Jackie) Gordon of Albion and June (Rod) Gregory of Milton Kan.; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald Gordon of Fremont, David Gordon of Columbia City, Allen Gordon of Kimmell and Thomas Gordon of Australia; and his special friend, Jonnie Fisher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; a sister, Carolyn Morrison; and a brother, Lowell Gordon.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Harvest Community Church Building Fund.
