Robert Poffenberger, 58

FORT WAYNE — Robert D. Poffenberger, 58, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born June 18, 1953 in Fort Wayne, a son of Robert E. and Lenore M. (Varner) Poffenberger.
With the exception of four years in Ligonier, he spent his formative years in Columbia City.
He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1971 and continued his education at Hillsdale College in Michigan.
He was employed at Monsanto for six years and Food Marketing Corp. for more than 25 years.
His memberships included Teamsters #414 and the Board of Directors of Food Marketing Credit Union.
Surviving relatives include a brother, Alfred Poffenberger of Fort Wayne; three sisters, Mary Ann Briggs of Dayton Ohio, Nancy Rosenberg of Colorado and Margie Hollenbaugh of Columbia City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loraine.
The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
