Rolland Gipson, 75

Rolland B. Gipson, 75, of Ossian, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Ossian where he had been living since October, 2011.
He was born July 7, 1937, in Litchfield, Ill., a son of Carl R. and Gladys (Kettlekamp) Gipson. His formative years were spent in Whitley County. He graduated from Columbia City High School.
On Aug. 12, 1966, he married Patricia Collinsworth. They have always made their home in Whitley County.
He was employed 25 years at American Hoist and Derrick in Fort Wayne and retired from No Sag in Kendallville in 1999 with 15 years of service.
His membership included Eagles Lodge #1906.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Diana (Teed) Rush of Ossian; a son, Bryan A. Gipson of Churubusco; a stepson, Paul Evard of Columbia City; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a brother, Carl L. Gipson of Rome City.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark W. Gipson and Darian L. Gipson.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
