Ronald Ramsey, 67

COLUMBIA CITY — Ronald L. Ramsey, 67, of rural Columbia City, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.
He had been battling cancer for the past five years.
He was born Oct. 13, 1943, in Oklahoma and spent his formative years in Sioux City, Iowa.
A veteran, he served in the National Guard.
He married Linda L. Davidson and they always made their home in rural Columbia City.
He was employed at Essex for more than 20 years until its closing and retired from USF Holland.
His memberships included Teamsters Union #414, Eagles Lodge #1906, V.F.W. #5582 and American Legion Post #98.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda; two stepdaughters, Ginger (Danny) Conwell of Middletown and Donna Dyer of Rushville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his mother, Louise Marquardt of Souix City, Iowa; and his canine companion, Buster.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Lilly Helsley; a sister, Barbara Horan; and two canine companions, Ruby and Jordy.
There will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are being completed at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
