Rosalee Bernhard, 73

WARSAW — Rosalee A. “Rosie” Bernhard, 73, formerly of South Whitley, died at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw where she had been a resident since July, 2011.
She was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Kokomo, a daughter of Howard E. and Nina M. (Norman) Murphy.
Her formative years were spent in Warsaw and she graduated from Warsaw High School in 1956.
On Dec. 3, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert D. Bernhard. They always made their home in South Whitley. Mr. Bernhard died March 26, 2003.
She owned and operated Rosie’s Flag Car Service from 1972 until 2003. She also worked for Dig’s Diner in Warsaw for 30 years.
Her church membership was with First Christian Church in Warsaw.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Judy Poppens of Marion S.D. and Bobbi Lyn Venlet of Holland Mich.; a grandson, David Poppens; three brothers, Lawrence Murphy of Enterprise Ala., Donald Murphy of South Whitley and Maurice Murphy of Akron; and four sisters, Vivian Heeter of South Whitley, Patricia Holler of South Whitley, Jeannie Cooper of Talma and Katherine Metzger of North Manchester.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Robert Murphy, Michael Murphy and Frances Adams.
The graveside service will be held at noon Saturday at South Whitley Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Preferred memorials are to final expense account c/o Smith & Sons Funeral Homes.
