FORT WAYNE — Columbia City stand-out harrier Samantha Roush placed fourth out of 151 runners at the New Haven Invitational Saturday.
The Lady Eagles placed seventh out of 15 scoring teams in their division, and the boys squad took ninth, led by Gage Emrick with a 26th-place finish.
Roush’s fourth-place finish was a competitive one, as there were only 1:30 between the second and sixth runners Saturday.
Brooke Wersler was less than two minutes behind Roush and placed 23rd, followed by Natalia Johnson who finished in 50th place.
Erin Knepple, who ran a season-best time, took 53rd, Shelby Allison came in 57th, and Samina Qureshi finished 59th.
Bringing up the pack was Karina Rubrake, who came in 136th.
“It was a very strong team effort,” Columbia City Head Coach Bob Fahl said.
On the boys side, the top nine runners were only 45 seconds apart.
