RUN FOR JESUS: 5K Walk/Run takes the streets

Whiltey County residents of all ages participated in a 5K Walk/Run for Jesus Saturday morning in downtown Columbia City as a prelude to the National Day of Prayer which is Thursday. The race began near The Center for Whitley County Youth at 201 W. Market St. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Center. Pictured above, runners race off from the starting line.

Children, teenagers and adults took the streets for the 5K Walk/Run for Jesus, which began at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

Registration was $20 per person or $50 for a family, and proceeds from the event went to The Center for Whitley County Youth.

The event also raised awareness for the upcoming National Day of Prayer, which is Thursday.

Community of Hope Church in Columbia City will host a local National Day of Prayer service Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
