Running rivalry begins again; girls fall to Maple Creek by one point
OSSIAN — Since its beginning in 2000, Maple Creek Middle School (Carroll High School) has created a cross country dynasty, racing to a conference championship for 12 straight years.After an intense summer of training, the Indian Springs Middle School varsity girls hoped to hand the Maple Creek Bobcats a season-opening loss at the Norwell Invitational. Led by a first-place victory from 8th grader Ashley Johnson, the girls almost succeeded, but endured a heartbreaking loss to the Bobcats by just one point.Following Johnson’s victory, ran in 11:33, was Shay Trump in fifth place for ISMS with a time of 12:16. Coming in eighth was Bailie Brown in a time of 12:38. Tenth overall was Lauren Keller in a time of 12:41, followed by Alissa Jagger who came in 11th at 12:48.
