Russell Blaugh, 89

Russell L. Blaugh, 89, of Churubusco, passed away at 11:08 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at The Oaks, Columbia City. Born Oct. 11, 1921 in Huntington County, he was a son of Roy and Eugenia (Shearer) Blaugh.
He moved from Whitley County to Allen County in 1946 and in 1973 moved back to Whitley County. He graduated from Coesse High School with the Class of 1939. On May 24, 1941 he married Jeanne Sprouls in Columbia City who preceded him in death Jan. 9, 1971. On Jan. 19, 1973, he married Louise Barnhart-Egolf in Churubusco. He worked at Dana Weatherhead in Columbia City as a foreman for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He also worked as a general farmer.
Survivors include his four children, Ron Blaugh of Churubusco, Kathy (Lynn) Johnson of Fort Wayne, Gary Blaugh of Fort Wayne and Allen Blaugh of San Diego, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mary Katherine (Charles) Cummings of Columbia City and Norma L. (Dale) Crabill of Churubusco; one stepson, Robert L. (Betty) Egolf of Churubusco; one sister, Geraldine Zumbrun of Columbia City; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jeanne Blaugh; second wife, Louise Blaugh Dec. 5, 2004; sisters, Dorothy Tripcony and Marjorie Platschik; brothers, Thomas, Edward, Jack and John Blaugh; and infant brothers, Donald and Freddie Blaugh.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home with Pastor Jean Ness of Columbia City United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Blaugh to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Parkview Whitley Home Health and Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Visit to send family condolences or sign the guest register book.
