Russell Lowell Fisher, 86, of Tri Lakes, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 24, 2013, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Spring Grove, Indiana a son of Preston B. and Elizabeth C. (Miller) Fisher. His formative years were spent in Richmond. He graduated from Richmond High School and attended Earlham College.
From 1945 until 1948 he served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps.
In 1951, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Cail. They made their home in Richmond until 1956 when they moved to New Castle.
In 1968, they moved to Muncie until 1972 when they moved to the Columbia City area. In 1986, they moved to their home on Big Cedar Lake. Mrs. Fisher died Feb. 9, 2003.
From 1957 until 1977 he worked for Investors Diversified Services and from 1977 until his retirement in August 2006 he was a self employed financial advisor.
Surviving relatives include a sister, Eris Hoover.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Avis and infant sister, Melba June.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnes Funeral Home in New Paris, Ohio, with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, Ohio, with military honors presented. Visitation will also be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
