Ruth Bowser, 86

COLUMBIA CITY — Ruth M. Bowser, 86, formerly of Washington Township, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Renaissance Village where she had been a resident since 2007.
She was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Munising, Mich., a daughter of Harley E. and Sallie (Riley) Adair.
As a sophomore in high school, she moved to the Chicago area with her brother.
She graduated from Walter High School in Chicago in 1943. After graduation she moved to Fort Wayne.
On July 19, 1947, she was united in marriage to Junior D. Bowser. They made their home in Fort Wayne until 1978 when they moved to their home in Washington Township. Mr. Bowser died April 10, 2004.
She was employed at Bowser Factory for a couple years, Arrow Motor Transit Trucking Company from 1945 to 1951 and General Electric Cafeteria for a few years.
Surviving relatives include two children, Joseph (Patricia) Bowser of South Whitley and Sandra (Robert) Ax of North Liberty; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by nine brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
The burial will be in Huntertown Cemetery. The visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to V.F.W. Children’s Home.
