S. Whitley doctor missed by town

December 6, 2013

SOUTH WHITLEY — The departure of a small town physician from his practice had South Whitley residents offering well wishes to Dr. James Hanus.

Hanus had been the physician for numerous community families in the South Whitley area with the Parkview Physicians Group.

Several comments posted on social media websites expressed their gratitude to the long-time doctor of more than 30 years. Statements such as, “you’ll be missed,” and “you were the best doctor I ever had,” resonate with many community members.

Parkview Hospital officials released a statement regarding Hanus’ departure.

“Dr. James Hanus is no longer with Parkview Physicians Group,” said Eric Clabaugh, public information manager for Parkview Health. “He planned to retire from Parkview in early 2014. However, it was agreed that Dr. Hanus should begin that transition at this time. We would like to thank Dr. Hanus for his many years of service with Parkview and for his dedication to the Whitley County community.”

A phone call made to the South Whitley clinic confirmed that Dr. Hanus is no longer with the group. However, the local office, 4665 S. Ind. 5, is still open from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with Dr. Claudia Bobay currently seeing patients.
