Samuel W. Baxter, 80, of Warsaw, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw.
Born Sept. 17, 1930 in Salem, he was a son of Ben and Nellie (Walton) Baxter. He lived most of his life in the Warsaw area. He married Mary Lou Schrader June 23, 1948 in the Larwill Methodist parsonage.
He was a salesman for Whitley County Motor Sales retiring after 26 years June 1, 1995. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Warsaw and he loved his dog, Tippy.
Survivors include his wife, a son, David M. (Roberta) Baxter of Eddyville, Ky.; three daughters, Penny L. Daisy of Mansfield, Ohio, Deloris A. (Joe) Clark of Mansfield, and Sandra M. Rude of Warsaw; a brother, Eugene (Alice) Stewart of South Whitley; a sister, Martha Wise of Radcliff, Ky.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Titus Funeral Home in Warsaw. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Boschain of First Christian Church in Warsaw officiating. Burial is at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
Memorials may be given to First Christian Church Building Fund, 115 Park Ridge Drive, Warsaw, IN 46580; or the First Christian Church Scholarship Fund at the same address.
