Saturday last day for softball sign-up

COLUMBIA CITY — Saturday will be the final day residents can register for the summer softball season.

There will be a special registration period at the pavilion in Morsches Park Saturday. People can come between 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. to sign-up.

Softball evaluations will be on Saturday, March 23 at noon for the 9 to 11 age group and at 2:30 p.m. for the 12 to 14 group. Those who wish to play up from their age group will have their time at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.

Opening day is set for April 27. So far, registration numbers have been solid.

“Our numbers are looking pretty good right now, but more is always better,” said Melinda Wheeler with the Parks Department. “There are still some who play every year who haven’t come out yet.”
