COLUMBIA CITY â With heavy rain forecasted for Wednesday night, Columbia City High Schoolâs graduation ceremony was in jeopardy.
However, the high school experienced no flooding.
Principal Jennifer Reiff, not wanting to move the commencement, made quick decisions earlier in the week to prevent a potential disaster.
Three years ago, the high schoolâs commencement was moved to Indian Springs Middle School. Reiff did not want to see a repeat.
âIâll be darned if we have to do that again,â she said.
With assistance from community corrections, her custodial department acquired sandbags.
âMy custodial staff is amazing, they are the ones that have gotten the sand bags, and they worked to get ahead,â she said.
Beginning as early as Tuesday, the custodial crew worked Wednesday placing sandbags around the high school.
