COLUMBIA CITY â€” Eighteen-year-olds Jenee Schneider and Michaela Thomas, were selected as this yearâ€™s valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, at Columbia City High School â€“ and the academic honors are opening doors.
Jenee is the daughter of Robert and Julie Schneider, and Michaela, the salutatorian, is the daughter of Micah and Michelle Thomas.
Both girls are good friends, playing volleyball together in high school and hanging out around Columbia City, as they both enjoy the lessons they have learned in high school.
After graduation, Schneider plans to attend Manchester College for Pre-Pharmacy for a few years. Then she plans to go to Dupont where they are building the pharmacy school.
Thomas plans to attend the University of Indianapolis to study Occupational Therapy.
Other than regular school work, Schneider is involved in the National Honor Society, Eagle Renaissance, Student Counsel, tennis, volleyball, Vacation Bible School during the summer and Toys for Tots.
Thomas is involved in show choir, theater, National Honor Society, Distinguished Young Women, Campus Life in her youth group, teaching Sunday School, Eagle Renaissance, Future Educators in Action, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and volunteering at the Forklift.
Both girls are looking forward to their graduation ceremony June 8.
â€śIâ€™m looking forward to standing in front of everyone and talking about our class and the memories weâ€™ve shared,â€ť said Schneider.
