SECONDHAND: ’Busco garage sale ordinance adds permit fee

July 19, 2013

CHURUBUSCO — Garage sales will have new regulations to abide by starting in August.

Churubusco’s Town Council passed an ordinance Wednesday that now requires those holding garage sales to purchase a permit for $3.

Another change was in the amount of garage sales allowed by each resident. Council members agreed to a maximum of two sales per resident each year.

A resident present at the council meeting wanted to clarify if the new provisions included the town-wide sale held annually.

“I don’t see where it says that the town’s sale doesn’t count toward this,” said the resident.

Clerk-treasurer Madalyn Sade-Bartl said the permit and garage sale count does not apply and residents can still participate in that event.
