WARSAW — Sectionals began for the Columbia City girls swimming team Thursday, and the Lady Eagles turned in several performances that qualified for Saturday’s finals.

Thursday was the preliminary event for the finals, which will be Saturday. Winners of Saturday’s sectional races will advance to the state meet on Feb. 9. Qualification for state can also occur for swimmers or relay teams who meet the state standard cutoff time to round out the field to 32 entrants per event.

Columbia City’s top finish on the day was fourth place in the 200 freestyle relay, with the team of Katlin Knott, Mishayla Hager, Taylor Hartsock and Cassie Bosselman coming in at a time of 1:56.78. Hartsock also came in sixth in the 100 butterfly at 1:10.23 and Knott was sixth in the 50 freestyle at 28.16.

Saturday’s final will begin at 9 a.m. at the pool in Warsaw.
